Chuck Staley grew up in Taylorville, Illinois and graduated from Taylorville High School.
Chuck is also a 1962 graduate of Eureka College, having completed his major in Economics and Business.  He resides in Eureka with his wife, and 1964 alumna, Janice Lewman.  Together they have three children Brent and twins Blake & Shawn.  While at Eureka he was involved in E-Tribe, lettered all four years on the basketball team and was co-captain his junior and senior years.  He also served as senior class president and Greek Council president.
Upon leaving the college Chuck began his career at the State Bank of Eureka as a teller.  This relationship lasted for nearly 44 years and culminated with him being named president of the current institution, Heartland Bank and Trust in 1987.  Chuck retired from the bank in 2002. After retirement Chuck earned his real estate license and is using his experience and love of the community to welcome new people and businesses.
Chuck continued his formal education with two additional degrees – he earned a Bachelor of Laws from LaSalle University in Chicago in 1969 and completed studies at the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1980.
Chuck served as a trustee of the college from 1990 to 1996 and 1997 to 2002. He has also served in many community organizations as a member and officer, including the Eureka Community Nursery School, Maple Lawn Homes, president of the Eureka Public Library board, and the Eureka Rotary Club where he has also served as president.
He has a passion for Eureka which he will share with you and you will soon share for Central Illinois.
